Shake Shack

After work on Saturday me and Millie wandered over to Covent Garden to check out the newly opened Shake Shack. I've been hearing very good things about this place for a long time and have been eagerly anticipating the opening of it's first UK store.

It had been one of the hottest days of the year, it was 9pm on a Saturday and the place only opened last week so of course there was going to be a queue. Our (very hungry) stomachs dropped a little bit when we first set eyes on just how long the queue was but it moved surprisingly quickly and we were sitting down with our food within half an hour. This place is so organised and there were friendly staff everywhere looking to help out and answer any questions we had. So they got extra brownie points for this on top of just how good the food was.

We browsed the menus in the queue and quickly decided on the ShackBurger (with extra pickles) for me and a good old Cheese burger for Mills. I went for cheese fries and a Peanut Butter shake (no surprises there) and Millie had regular fries and the Black & White Shake.

Obviously, we're greedy little sisters and on top of all this couldn't resist sharing the Concrete Jungle. Shake Shacks 'concretes' are their very own frozen custard ice cream, blended together with a a whole host of tempting mix ins. You can create your own or choose on of theirs. Ours included vanilla custard, PB sauce, marshmallow sauce and bananas and it tasted just as good as you'd imagine.

On to the burgers and all I'm gunna say is - this is how fast food should be done. It isn't a gourmet burger with truffles and a layer of fois gras but that isn't what it's supposed to be and it's not what we were looking for.

The meat is excellent quality and everything is cooked fresh to order so the patty's are fresh and juicy but in no way greasy, with the ShakeSauce topping it all off perfectly.

Millie took the first bite of her burger, looked up at me and just said "Oh, f*uck", so yeah, they were pretty good burgers.

I only had my iPhone with me for the pictures, so they don't show everything in the best light but you get the idea.

When we left we were maybe just a little bit too full but very happy. Next time, I'm going for a double.

Too full
