Everybody loves Nutella. That, my friends, is a fact.
Never have I met anyone who doesn't like the stuff - whether they have it on toast or with fruit, use it in baking or eat it just straight out the jar with a spoon (a very dangerous move and a sure way to end up holding an empty jar..) - everyone loves it.
It's a guilty pleasure for all, but now I've taken the guilt right out of with my recipe for Skinny Nutella.
Disclaimer - eating this will not make you skinny but it will be a little nicer to your body so you can enjoy more of it!
This lil gem is dairy, gluten and sugar free; as well as being raw and suitable for vegans. If that's not enough for ya, the recipe comes together in less than 10 minutes and will keep for a good few weeks in the fridge for whenever you need a Nutella moment.
I've been enjoying mine for breakfast on toasted spelt bread with bananas and chia seeds.
Being healthy sure does look good, doesn't it?
Ingredients:
75g (1/2 cup) hazelnuts
20g (4 tbsp) cacao powder
8 dates (1/4 cup approx.)
2 tbsp maple syrup
4 tbsp non-dairy milk (soy, almond, hazelnut)
To Make:
- In a food processor or high speed blender, blitz the nuts so they are finely ground.
- Add in the cacao powder and keep blitzing until the mixture comes together in a smooth paste.
- Add in the dates and syrup and mix once more, the mixture will thicken slightly so now add the milk and blend again until it is silky smooth - like nutella/nut butter. You may need more milk.
- Taste for sweetness/richness and add more cacao/syrup/dates to your taste! Enjoy.
Yeah I am THERE! I am thinking about how you could add cinnamon...or rosewater...or cardamom and other chai spices... and how you could sub out the hazelnuts and sub in walnuts or some other nut and how this spread could just about take over the world...
